President Joe Biden is expected to announce Thursday that his administration has signed contracts for an additional 200 million doses of Covid-19 vaccine, the Washington Post reported Thursday, citing three sources.
According to the Post, Biden is expected to make the announcement later Thursday while touring the National Institutes of Health. The White House and NIH did not immediately respond to requests for comment.
The new deals would bring the total number of doses to 600 million, enough to vaccinate 300 million people. Both Pfizer and Moderna approved vaccines require two doses three to four weeks apart.
