Meet the 7 winners of the Taiwan Excellence awards, offered by ShowStoppers and TAITRA – .

Known as a technology powerhouse, Taiwan is the headquarters of companies like Foxconn, Pegatron, TSMC, Acer and Asus. Taiwan’s tech industry, while defined by established players, is also home to a growing startup scene. Before the official start of CES, Announced by the nonprofit trade promotion group Taiwan External Trade Development Council (known as TAITRA) and ShowStoppers, the Taiwan Excellence Awards are a preview of what their startups will have to offer. Seven startups were awarded, and eleven other companies also presented themselves. They cover a wide range of sectors from fitness and health to industrial surveillance.

More startups will showcase their technology next week in the Taiwan Pavilion at CES, organized by the Taiwan Tech Arena.

The WISE-2410 vibration sensor from Advantech

Advantech’s LoRaWAN solutions are designed to control applications over long distances and have been used for a variety of scenarios including flood monitoring, critical care patients in hospitals, and transportation infrastructure. The latest devices include the WISE-6610, a gateway for connecting up to 500 sensors and sending their data to cloud platforms via 3G / LTE or wired Ethernet connections. The other is the WISE-2410, a vibration sensor used to monitor motorized mechanical equipment and identify potential problems so manufacturers can schedule maintenance before machines fail, resulting in costly downtime.

Cyberlink is the developer of the machine learning-based FaceMe Facial Recognition Engine, which is used in AIoT applications such as security, smart retail and surveillance. While the COVID-19 pandemic continues, CyberLink’s new FaceMe Health product can identify faces without a mask and send alerts if someone is not wearing a mask or is in high temperatures. It is designed to aid in pandemic control measures in places like hospitals, airports, retail stores, and factories.

DyacoThe SOLE Fitness line of training equipment includes the new SOLE CC81 Cardio Climber, which combines the functions of steppers and climbers in one device. The SOLE CC81 is ergonomically designed so that users can do intense cardio training while reducing wear and tear on their joints.

Green jacket sport presents its intelligent Golface system that enables golf courses to monitor and collect data on their operations in real time, while golfers can track their performance. Other functions of the smart system include aerial video and real-time assessment functions.

power is the maker of a smartphone backup device called the Qubii. Qubii is shaped like a small cube and automatically backs up phones while charging and does not require internet or WiFi connections. Instead, users insert a microSD card into the Qubii and connect it to their smartphone using their usual power adapters or chargers. Every time the smartphone is charged, Qubii backs up its photos, videos and contacts. The device also has a patented SD card lock function to protect data.

MiTAC Digital TechnologyThe Mio Dashcam range from Mio produces clear videos even in dark spaces such as parking lots. The latest Mio dash cam, called MiVue 798, uses Sony’s lowlight STARVISTM sensor and an all-glass lens and produces wide-angle videos with a quality of up to 2.8 KB. The MiVue 798 also has built-in WiFi connectivity for video backup and online sharing via the MiVue Pro app. Other functions include GPS tracking, a patented intelligent warning system with warnings of fixed distances and warnings of speed limits, as well as a driver assistance system that warns of lane departure, driver fatigue and forward collisions.

Winmate will showcase its M133WK Ultra Rugged Tablet PC designed for vehicle diagnostics. The M133WK is powered by an 8th generation Intel Core i5-8265U Whiskey Lake processor with high performance and low power consumption and has a 1920 x 1080 PCAP touchscreen that is visible even in strong sunlight.

ATrack’s AK11 Fleet Hub is a 4G LTE device for real-time management of fleets in various industries.

ELECLEAN 360 uses what is known as “the world’s first electrochemical nanocatalysis technology” to convert water into hydrogen peroxide and hydroxyl radicals for cleaning and disinfection.

In the win development introduces the SR Pro CPU Cooler, which uses patented, parallel-running twin turbine pumps to optimize water flow and ensure heat output. It comes with AJF120 high airflow fans to help cool down PCs faster.

Innolux offers all LCD panels for televisions, monitors, notebooks, industrial, medical, mobile and other applications.

Planetary technology is building a secure network called PLANET Powerful Enterprise VPN for cybersecurity and firewall solutions for the “post-COVID-19 era”.

Rice air makes AIR Cube, a small filterless nanotech air purifier.

Tokuyu Biotech creates intelligent massage chairs and healthcare products connected to apps and sensor technologies.

Winnoz is the maker of Haiim, a handheld vacuum-assisted device for collecting blood samples from fingertips.

WiseChip develops transparent OLEDs with touch functions for use in control panels for household appliances, in the automotive industry, for transport applications (e.g. systems for displaying passenger information) and for portable devices.

Yzteks E + Autoff is an IoT device designed to prevent people from forgetting to turn off their stoves. In addition to the automatic switch-off, it also has a setting for the cooking time and energy-saving functions.
